Parenthood

  • The Parenthood Hub

‘The Parenthood Hub; Pregnancy, Birth & Beyond’, is a free weekly intergenerational support group, held in Cardigan. We believe in supporting mothers and parents in the huge rite of passage that runs all the way from pre-conception, through to pregnancy, birth, parenthood and grandparenthood. Run by experienced local birth workers and parent educators, this group is a safe space to learn, to connect, to be heard and to share wisdoms and experiences alongside other local parents and parents-to-be.

  • Holistic Birth Preparation Courses

Seasonal in-person antenatal classes run by experienced local birth workers, aimed at pregnant women/ birthing people from around 20 weeks of pregnancy onwards, and their birth partners where possible. Our courses are a mix of both practical and evidence-based information, self-reflective and physical exercises, useful tools and creative tasks, to help you prepare physically and emotionally for birth and to build your local community of other parents-to-be.

  • Parenting Skills Course

This three-part, in-person Parenting Skills Course, upcoming in February/ March 2026 in Cardigan, invites parents and carers into a new paradigm of parenting — one rooted in partnership, empathy, and authentic connection. Using the tools and framework of Nonviolent Communication (NVC), we will explore how to move away from power struggles and towards relationships based on trust and collaboration.

  • Nourishing Traditions - Old ways for future days

This project will share traditional, rural and land-based skills for a sustainable future, for individuals and families seeking practical and emotional tools for resilience, in light of a changing climate. We envision this project being part of a movement towards bringing the ‘village’ (in terms of skills for resilience and wisdom-sharing as part of an inter-generational community) back to the people.

Our mission is that over one year, this series of regular workshops will empower local parents/ carers and families based in Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire, from all walks of life, to feel more connected with themselves, local traditions, nature and their local communities.

This project has been kindly funded through the National Lottery Community Fund’s ‘Sustainable Steps Wales’ grant.

Testimonials

“Attending the sessions have helped me feel more supported in my parenting journey, and less alone. I am able to be that bit calmer. I can also feel a bit calmer through using techniques that I have learned.”
